JULY 26 – Tropical cyclone hits New Zealand.
Cyclones from the Pacific are generally rare at this time of the year, but this one, moving down onto Auckland at late morning, certainly packed a punch! We had several power interruptions, and then we finally lost the power by lunchtime (it stayed off until 2145). Luckily we have a generator to keep us going. All-up we brought 6 chilled lambs home to ‘dry-out’.
We put coats on the lambs for a little while to help keep them warm.
>>> UPDATE ON PENELOPE…
We are pleased to report that Penelope is doing fine…she had a slight reaction to the milk formula, so we had to give her some medicine. As you can see, she has a little friend. His name is Thomas. Thomas is a bit ‘slow’ and we have to take extra care of him…he now wears a coat to help him keep warm.
Come and meet our sheep during your Auckland Eco-tour!
We would be happy to answer your inquiries…
